07 Mar Tony Whatley II – Black Critic Guy
I am so thankful that you’re still with me on this journey a month into the launch of BY DESIGN. I’m in ahh every time I learn something new, and I’m so grateful that I have you to share it with. This week I learned that Hawaii is not the farthest territory of the United States but it’s an island in the western Pacific Ocean called Guam; where Americas day begins.
Tony Whatley is a black African American, Filipino, Pacific Islander who grew up in Guam and currently lives on the mainland in Florida. He was raised in a military family, surrounded by the love of his grandparents. Tony understands the struggle mixed race children have. Society continuously pushed him to choose a side, but all he wants is to be embraced by everyone.
Tony turned the table on society and became a content creator and influencer in 2013; when he joined youtube under the pseudo name The Black Critic Guy. There he shares his opinions, constructively criticism and reviews about Anime and American film.
In this episode Tony will be sharing stories about his upbringing in Guam and how he ended up moving to the mainland. He’ll be talking about why his culture is strongly influenced by his filipino side even though he’s only been to the Philippines twice in all his life. Tony will also talk to us about how his culture inspired his love for Anime, and why he wants to become a voice over actor in the future.
